Breganze
Wine · PDO · 12 municipalities
Recognised since 1973, the Breganze DOC spans 12 municipalities in Veneto, including Bassano del Grappa, on volcanic-derived soils between the Astico and Brenta rivers. What distinguishes this denomination from its neighbours is its focus on the native Vespaiola grape, the historical flagship and emblem of the territory. While the appellation encompasses 14 distinct wine types, Vespaiola remains central, requiring a minimum of 85% of this variety for its single-variety bottling. Managed by 20 verified producers, this signature grape is also air-dried to craft Torcolato, a distinct passito wine pressed by the end of February in the year following harvest.
