Recognized since 1999, the Colli del Limbara IGT spans 24 municipalities in Sardinia, including Aggius and Berchidda. This denomination distinguishes itself through strict labeling exclusions designed to protect regional quality tiers: winemakers are prohibited from using varietal labeling for ten iconic regional grapes, such as Cannonau, Vermentino, and Carignano, which are reserved exclusively for Sardinian DOC and DOCG designations. Production rules permit maximum yields of 18.0 tonnes per hectare for red and rosé wines—which require a minimum of 10.0% alcohol by volume—and 19 tonnes per hectare for white wines, which range in color from paper-white to amber.
