Colli Romagna centrale
Wine · PDO · 22 municipalities
Established in 2004 across 22 municipalities of Emilia-Romagna, including Bertinoro, the Colli Romagna centrale DOC distinguishes itself by strictly forbidding the enrichment of musts across all its wine styles. Unlike neighbouring appellations that permit sparkling or sweet variants, this denomination completely excludes rosato, spumante, frizzante, novello, and passito styles. Its flagship red blend requires a minimum of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon combined with at least 40% Sangiovese, Barbera, Merlot, or Montepulciano. This dry, ruby-red wine must achieve at least 12.0% alcohol and cannot be sold before April 30 of the year following the harvest, ensuring a naturally concentrated release.
