Collio Goriziano
Wine · PDO · 8 municipalities
Recognized since 1973, the Collio Goriziano DOC in Friuli-Venezia Giulia encompasses eight municipalities, including Capriva del Friuli and Cormons, where 122 verified producers operate. While standard white wines require a minimum of 11.5% vol alcohol, the denomination distinguishes its premium tiers with specific aging criteria. Unlike its red counterpart which requires wood contact, Collio's white Riserva must age for 20 months without any mandatory wood refinement. Additionally, the rare Picolit style is limited to an exceptionally low maximum yield of 4 t/ha, compared to the standard 11.0 t/ha permitted for other whites.
