Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba
Wine · PDO · 1 municipality
Unlike neighbouring Dolcetto denominations that span numerous towns, Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba restricts its entire production zone to just one single municipality: Diano d'Alba in Piedmont. Recognised since 1976, this designation mandates 100% Dolcetto grapes, yielding a dry, almond-like wine with a ruby red color and fruity aroma. While the base tipologia must reach at least 12.0% alcohol volume, the Superiore designation raises this requirement to 12.50%. Both tiers enforce a strict maximum yield of 8.0 t/ha, but Superiore requires ten months of aging beginning November 1 of the harvest year, without the option for a riserva label.
