Friuli Annia

Wine · PDO · 8 municipalities

Established in 2004 in the province of Udine, the Friuli Annia DOC covers eight specific municipalities, including Bagnaria Arsa and Carlino. Unlike neighboring appellations that dictate rigid varietal percentages, this denomination grants winemakers unusual blending freedom: its base Bianco and Rosso wines can blend any of twelve authorized grapes without fixed ratio requirements, though Traminer aromatico is strictly excluded from the white blend. Yields are capped at 12.0 tonnes per hectare. For its red Riserva wines, the appellation enforces a strict two-year aging process, including 12 months in wood, with a restriction limiting these wines to containers larger than five liters.
