Grappa siciliana

Recognised since 2008, the Grappa siciliana geographical indication represents a unique anomaly within the protected spirits of Sicily. Its official production zone is remarkably vast, covering 391 municipalities across the region, beginning alphabetically with the town of Acate and including Aci Bonaccorsi. However, what distinguishes this geographical indication from active regional spirits is its empty registry. Despite its extensive potential territory, the denomination currently records exactly zero verified producers. While the legal parameters exist to define the spirit within these hundreds of Sicilian municipalities, no commercial entity currently bottles under this label.
