Patata della Sila

Food · PGI · 24 municipalities

The Patata della Sila IGP, recognized by the European Union since 2007, represents a highly localized agricultural pocket in the Calabria region. What sets this denomination apart from larger, more industrial potato designations is its exceptionally limited scale: the entire protected cultivation is confined to just 24 municipalities, including Acri and Albi. Today, a small group of only 23 verified producers manages this specialized output. Under the oversight of the Consorzio di Tutela Patata della Sila IGP, these few producers maintain strict adherence to regional origin rules, preventing the dilution of the identity of the Patata della Sila.
