Veneto
Wine · PGI · 560 municipalities
Recognised since 1999, the Veneto IGT covers 560 municipalities, spanning from alpine edges to lowland viticultural centers like Abano Terme. While the designation allows a generous maximum yield of 25.0 tonnes per hectare for its base wines, it is distinguished from other regional appellations by a strict labeling paradox regarding Pinot grigio. Despite official rules setting a dedicated yield cap of 19 tonnes per hectare for this specific grape, Pinot grigio is explicitly excluded from varietal specification. Consequently, its name is forbidden from appearing anywhere on the final labeling of a Veneto IGT wine.
