Andriano/Andrian

On the western slopes of the Adige Valley, Andriano/Andrian thrives under the steep limestone cliffs of Mount Gantkofel. This unique alpine-mediterranean terroir fuels 18 protected denominations. Chief among these is the Lago di Caldaro DOC, a historic red wine territory encompassing a restricted zone of 18 municipalities. The gravelly, warm soils of these mountain flanks also yield exceptional white and red grapes for the Alto Adige DOC, which is limited to a zone of 52 municipalities. The sharp diurnal temperature swings of this specific mountainside concentrate the aromas of the local grapes, producing highly expressive wines.
