Mondaino

Rising in the hills south of the provincial capital of Rimini, the territory of Mondaino provides a microclimate where Adriatic breezes meet inland ridges. This topography shapes the character of Rimini DOC wine, a denomination limited to a zone of 26 municipalities. Along with Romagna DOC, these clay-rich slopes yield distinctive Sangiovese and Biancame. Mondaino's rural landscape supports 16 protected denominations in total, including the sharp Formaggio di Fossa di Sogliano DOP, aged in historic underground pits, proving how this southern Romagna outpost bridges coastal influence and rugged Apennine traditions.
