In the historic Coros sub-region of northwest Sardinia, the limestone-rich hills of Usini cultivate a distinct viticultural identity. This specific terroir shapes the grapes behind Alghero DOC, a highly localized wine designation restricted to a zone of 8 municipalities. Usini’s unique geography, which supports 17 protected food and wine denominations in total, also fuels the coastal-influenced Nurra IGT. The chalky soils and dry Mediterranean breeze of this specific Logudoro territory concentrate sugars and acidity in the grapes, yielding structured wines that reflect the rugged, sun-baked character of northern Sardinia.
